CRGO Cut Lamination

CRGO Cut Lamination is a product used to manufacture transformer cores. It is made from Cold-Rolled Grain-Oriented Electrical Steel (CRGO), a type of steel with high electrical resistivity and magnetic properties in the rolling direction. This material reduces core losses in transformers and increases corrosion resistance.

The manufacturing process involves various stages. CRGO steel comes in multiple thicknesses, such as 0.20mm, 0.23mm, 0.27mm, and 0.30mm. Now, 0.18-thickness CRGO is available in the market.

CRGO is available in Coil form, eye-to-sky position, or eye-to-wall position in width ranges of 900mm to 1260mm and weight ranges of 2MT to 10MT.

From the mother coil, we slit the CRGO coils in different- different widths as per design specifications at CNC Slitting Line.

CRGO Cut Lamination FAQs

Why is a transformer more efficient if the core is laminated ?
Transformer iron cores are laminated to reduce eddy currents. These micro-currents, also known as eddy currents, are produced by the first coil's alternating current's shifting magnetic field.
What will happen if the transformer core is not laminated ?
If the transformer core is not laminated, eddy currents will flow more freely, leading to heat energy loss and reduced efficiency.
How does lamination reduce eddy current ?
Eddy currents need a surface area to flow. Laminating the transformer core reduces the material and creates space for winding wires around it to make coils. The lamination cuts decrease the surface area available for eddy currents to flow, reducing both the eddy currents and the power they dissipate.
Why do eddy currents decrease efficiency ?
Eddy currents decrease efficiency by causing energy loss in the form of heat.
